IFAWPCA is the flag-bearer of the building & construction industry in the Asia Pacific Region and it also represents our region in the CICA Board. With Asia becoming the focus of the world economy in terms of growth and new development projects we should all strive for the success of the 37th IFAWPCA Convention especially because it is being held in Bangladesh which stands in the cross-roads of South-East Asia and West Asia. Furthermore our region is encompassing three of the major Trading Blocs in the world, i.e. SAARC, ASEAN & APEC. In population terms it represents the single biggest economic bloc. An area with a huge market potential for all of us involved in the building & construction industry.
Bangladesh itself is a fast growing country and it offers many investment & business opportunities which you may explore during your stay in Dhaka. Bangladesh has a long culture of hospitality and it also offers an open investment policy encouraging foreign investment in virtually all sectors of the economy.
Once again, welcome to Dhaka. |

On behalf of BACI I am pleased to welcome you to the 37th IFAWPCA Convention, International Building/Construction Exhibition, Technical Seminar Sessions, as well as the National & International (IFAWPCA) Awards.
BACI is the apex building & construction industry body in Bangladesh and BACI is proud to host the key event of the building & construction industry calendar of 2009.
Considering the importance of this event BACI has prepared a comprehensive program of business & technical sessions along with exciting & enjoyable social and cultural activities to make attending the convention an unique experience for all of you.
Dhaka is an interesting city with a rich heritage of history and culture. Bangladesh being situated in the center of the Ganges Plain is home to a culture more than 2500 years old, i.e. the Ganges Civilization. The hospitality of the people is legendary. With a population of 150 million Bangladesh represents a country with vast opportunities which you can savor only if you come here.
Let me welcome all of you on behalf of BACI and the people of Bangladesh to this most important event of the year 2009. |
The Destination
Bangladesh is one of the few countries in South Asia, which remains to be explored. Bangladesh is like a painter's dream come true with a rich tapestry of colors and textures. The traditional emphasis on the tourist trade has always been on the material facilities offered by a country rather than on its natural charms.
A land of unspoiled nature, rich cultural heritage and exotic beauty, Bangladesh is considered as one of the most potential countries for eco-tourism in South Asia.
The unique composition of natural beauty with varied flora and fauna of this area has perhaps few matches elsewhere.
Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. It is the largest city and the fastest growing city as well. It is the best starting point for travels in the country. It is a pretty place with tombs and mosques to visit. Not to mention the natural sights just miles away from the city center.
