Message

Conrad Wong, JP
President, HKCA
President, IFAWPCA

It has been 22 years since the last Convention was held here in 1989 and it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 39th IFAWPCA Convention in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

I believe this Convention can serve as a platform to facilitate extensive exchange of ideas among participants, which will promote further collaboration leading to a better trading environment for the construction industry in the region. The Convention cannot be successful without your active participations in the discussions and taking advantage of the networking opportunities.

I sincerely hope this Convention will help promote closer communication and co-operation among Member Nations. On behalf of HKCA, I extend my warmest welcome to all of you and sincerely hope you enjoy your stay here.

All visitors to Hong Kong must have a passport that is valid for at least one month to six months (depending on nationality) after the period of their intended stay in Hong Kong. Please contact Immigration Department for details. Nationals of most countries do not require visas and can stay for periods varying from 7 days to 180 days, depending on nationality. If unsure of status, check with any Chinese embassy or consulate (http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/eng/wjb/zwjg/default.htm). Please check the details about visa requirements (http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm) on Immigration Department’s website.

Hong Kong is geographically compact and boasts one of the world’s most efficient, safe, affordable and frequent public transport systems. Whether by taxi, ferry, MTR, bus or tram, you can get around easily and catch wonderful glimpses of the city along the way. For convenience, use an Octopus electronic stored-value card that is accepted on most public transport other than taxi.

Hong Kong is GMT +8 and does not have seasonal time variation.
